Grilling Goes High-Tech?  Check Out These Cool Gadgets for Your Grill

Summer is definitely ‘high season’ for backyard fun and grill outs. But if you are a true fan of grilled food, anytime of the year is fair game, and much easier with some new technological innovations designed for back yard grill masters.

Check out some of these new high-tech tools for grilling burgers, side dishes or pretty much anything you want to serve, including our delicious Sizzle King premium blended burgers.

1. The Weber iGrill Mini Thermometer (Smart Phone Tool)

Where did you leave the thermometer?  That big clunky thing that always seems to get lost in the big utensil drawer is a must have, to ensure that your Sizzle King burgers are cooked to safety and flavor standards.   Don’t guess whether your burger is done or cut into the patty to let out all of the flavorful juices, when you can use this handy new gadget from the grill experts at Weber.

How It Works:

After you purchase the Weber iGrill Mini Thermometer, download the app on your smartphone.  When you are ready to grill, simply attach the cord to your phone, and insert the meat thermometer into the burger you are testing.

Next, use the app to select the type of meat you are evaluating.  Turkey, chicken, pork and beef all have different temperature and food safety guides.  Remember that bacteria like e-coli are killed at average internal temperatures of 155°F or higher.

Get the readout on your mini thermometer and you’re ready to go. Here is a quick reference for our Sizzle King patties:

·         Sizzle King hamburgers should have an internal temperature of 160°F    before being removed from the grill.

·         Sizzle King turkey burgers should be 165°F or higher.

·         Sizzle King Berkshire pork burgers should be a minimum of 160°F

While some pictures suggest you should stick the thermometer into the side of the meat, make sure you are testing the middle part of your beef or turkey patty, to get an accurate read on the internal temperature of the meat.

2.  The Grillbot Robotic Grill Cleaning Tool

We all know that the best time to clean your grill is immediately after you are done cooking, while it’s still hot and easier to remove fat and other debris.  The problem is that while you, the household grill master is cleaning up, everyone else is eating.  You feel a little left out, and worse yet, your burgers are getting cold.

Wouldn’t it be nice to just walk away from the grill, and have someone (or something) else do all that clean up work for you? Never leave stuck-on food again (or suffer a cold burger) with this handy Grillbot tool.

The Grillbot is an Amazon Choice leading new and innovative consumer product.  It has a rechargeable lithium ion battery and three strong electric motors, that circulate the wire brushes and propel the unit across your grill automatically, until it is sparkling clean again.

The Grillbot has an LCD alarm and timer, so you can “set it and forget it”, with settings for a 10-minute, 20 minute or 30-minute customized cleaning cycle.  It’s actually a little computer that controls the speed, movement and direction of the brushes in accordance to the amount of debris on your grill.  Woah, right?  And the grill brushes are replaceable.

3. The Brookstone Handle-Mount Grill Light

Was your Dad one of those guys who found a way to position the flashlight strategically, so that he could continue to grill after dark?   We’ve seen a lot of homemade strategies to try to light the grill, when the resident cook is flipping burgers for a crowd after sundown, but this device looks cooler, and far easier than using a roll of duct tape or one of those funny hats that miners wear.

Okay, the hats are fun, but not always practical.

The Brookstone Handle-Mount Grill Light is like a dream come true for the 365 day a year grill master.  Because let’s be honest, there is no such thing as “grilling season” if you really love to barbeque.  This handy device is weather resistant, with long lasting LED bulbs and it actually pivots so that you can shine the light where you need to.   The aluminum clamp and construction has made it safe to attach to virtually any grill handle, and it automatically shuts off after six minutes.

4. The Gaswatch Bluetooth Propane-Level Indicator

Meat? Check! Side dishes and you are ready to host the best backyard grill party with friends and family.  Now nod if this has happened to you… as you place all your meats and utensils around the grill, and turn on the gas only to realize, the tank is empty.

“Uh… yeah. I’ll be right back everyone”.

Celebrity level top of the line grills do have an LCD read out that indicates fuel level.  And of course, this isn’t a problem if your grill is attached to your natural gas line.  But for the rest of us, there is absolutely no way to tell how full (or empty) your propane tank is.  And you have to postpone grilling for all your hungry family members and guests, while you run to the nearest gas station or big box store.

Assuming it’s not a holiday, and they aren’t closed.  There’s that too.

This tool is amazing and affordable and helps by totally eliminating the problem.   The Gaswatch Bluetooth Propane-Level Indicator is synched to your smartphone and will give you a report on the amount of propane left in your tank.  Not only that, but it will send an alert to your smartphone to remind you that your tank is running low.  Convenient if you are out grocery shopping and need to pick up a spare tank.

We consider this tool to be a lifesaver.

5. Cuisineart Nonstick Reusable Grilling Sheets

With every great Sizzle King burger, comes a hundred or more flavor combinations.  Whether you want to top your premium blended burger with a fried egg, some crispy bacon, or even shrimp (try it), you shouldn’t have to go running back and forth from the grill to the kitchen and wear yourself out.

This handy kitchen gadget allows you to slowly cook delicate topping items on the grill, including chopped vegetables, bacon, fresh fruits or other delicious burger add-ons. You can also use it to lightly toast burger buns or crostini for appetizers, or even pancakes to rescue breakfast if the power goes out.

When you are done, the Cuisineart Nonstick Reusable Grilling Sheets go right in the top of your dishwasher for cleaning and sanitation, so they’ll be ready for the next time you thrill at the grill, with family and friends.

If you are thinking that these high-tech grilling gadgets would make a perfect gift, we agree! In fact, we’ve already added them to our holiday wish list.  Grill smarter and have more fun when you barbeque at home.
